LEED Component:
The LEED component I incorporated into my house is the use of sustainable, environment-friendly materials.
Concrete: This material is very durable, and can be made from a variety of abundant resources including: limestone, fly ash, slag cement, and silica fumes. It is energy efficient, because it has a high thermal mass, meaning it is good at absorbing and retaining heat. As well, it can be recycled and used in future projects and its high abundance makes it readily available for local production, reducing the need for transporting it long distances.

Glass: This material is initially produced from sand and limestone, sustainable and abundant resources, and is also recyclable, which means it can be reproduced from old structures. As well, glass is not only aesthetic, but also provides a natural light source which reduces the need for electrical lighting during the day, and enhances occupants' well-being.
